BIO /LIST OF WORKS

Max Burstyn is a musician from North London studying his Master’s degree in composition at the Royal Academy of Music. His musical life is split into five parts: composing, producing, audiovisual programming, performing, and teaching.

His aim as a composer is to use music as a tool to understand and shape our world, and his process often involves using environmental or sociological data as building material for new compositions. His proposed Master's thesis focuses on the relationship between sound waves, consciousness, and neuroscience, and how sonic aspects of music therapy can be incorporated into composition and live performance.

His musical influences come from Middle-Eastern and Far-East Asian traditions, late Russian and French romantic piano music, and experimental electronica, and his conceptual influences come from scientific subjects such as astronomy, biochemistry, and physics. One of his goals is to works towards the practical application of music and sound in environmental data analysis, medicine, and neuroscience.
